The Daily Scroll: A Mentorship Recap – March 3rd, 2021 Show Notes

Kay:

Hey, there Questers happy #HumpDay. It’s Wednesday, March 3rd and this is episode 303.

Shi:

303.

Kay:

I could not help but to sing that from the band 3OH!3, but we are not giving you a 3OH!3 quote today. We do have a quote from someone that we love so dearly, Miss Julianne Hough and she says, “There is something so rewarding about dancing. It’s almost spiritual – you let loose, you feel free, you get endorphins from the exercise.”

Shi:

If you’re not familiar, Julianne Hough is an American dancer, actress, singer, songwriter probably best known for her role in ABC’s Dancing with the Stars as a professional dancer. She is the recent founder of an organization, a company, an online dance workout, and so much more that Kay and I have fallen in love with called KINRGY.

Kay:

We like KINRGY a lot.

Shi:

We do like KINRGY a lot. Now, KINRGY is a combination of the words kin as in family and energy, as in movement. So, movement with family is what it’s all about and we have fallen in love. First getting introduced to KINRGY from the Unleash the Power Within, Tony Robbins virtual event, where they had some dancers come out and they always have dancers come out. But this time the dancers were doing something different. They were directing dance moves based on the elements of earth and fire and air and…

Kay:

Water.

Shi:

…and water. From that, we were like, we need more of this and our KINRGY obsession was born.

Kay:

Well, KINRGY is a wonderful way to energize yourself. Now people describe us often by saying, “You guys have such good energy. You’re so energetic.” Energy is the number one word we hear when described to us and we’re family. So, you know what KINRGY.

Shi:

KINRGY was made for us.

Kay:

But let’s talk about this quote here because she’s talking about the rewards of dancing and dancing is actually really good for you. Not just from a spiritual perspective or it’s good because it makes you happy, but from a physical perspective, she says you get endorphins from the exercise. But it’s not just the endorphins from the exercise of dance that you get. When you intentionally move your body to a rhythm, you are tapping into the very base reality that’s at play in our physical realm. Now, I know that sounds really esoteric, but everything around us is energy. We know this, energy equals matter, E = mc2, Einstein’s theory of relativity. Energy is matter and when we get down to what energy does as a substance, it vibrates and so whether you’re the human body vibrating to a beat (claps hands), or your teeny tiny little cell going brrrrrr.

Shi:

Or your heart going ba-bump, ba-bump, ba-bump, or the waves in the ocean-going crash, crash, crash. Rhythm is part of life and it is part of the song of the universe. So, when we dance, we’re moving our bodies in a rhythm that’s congruent with something and of course, that’s going to help us feel this spiritual emotion. The other part of this that helps us feel that kind of spiritual peace is that it’s vulnerable, like dancing. There’s no right way to do it. There are definitely wrong ways to do it but there’s really no right or no wrong yeah. To do it because it is about expression, which is something that they say in KINRGY a lot. It’s not about perfection, it’s about expression, and moving rhythmically in an intentional way helps us to connect that spirit by being vulnerable and by finding that expressive way inside of us.

Kay:

Well, when you are that vulnerable, that’s physical vulnerability. If I’m going to say something to you, I can think about that first in my mind and if I’m going to physically express a dance move while I’m caught up in the middle of a song that I love, there’s not a lot of control there which is why a lot of times in dance situations, you’ll see people who are wallflowers, if you will going to the corners, not engaging in that, or maybe only engaging in dance in their home, because it really does something important for you. As she says, you get the endorphins and not just from that exercise, but from actually connecting to the very base of your physical reality and it gives you something new and fun to do. We all know how important novelty and new things are in expanding our neural networks inside our brains.

Shi:

Well, I love that this quote goes from soul-filling spirit finding to like science-backed hard data all in one quote which is kind of what we love also about KINRGY is that there’s just I mean, everything from Tai Chi to aerobics, to kickboxing, to yoga to just hip-hop and dance.

Kay:

We’re not sponsored, we would just highly recommend you check it out.

Shi:

We just love it and in this quote, she shows us that gamut as well. So, to remind you of what Julianne Hough says, “There is something so rewarding about dancing. It’s almost spiritual – you let loose, you feel free, you get endorphins from the exercise.”

Kay:

Alrighty, gang. You know it’s going to be a Workout Wednesday Quest. Today we want you to invest in both that spiritual health and that physical health by doing a little dance workout. Now we would highly recommend KINRGY but that’s not necessary, you don’t need to go do that. You can simply put on your favorite song and just dance it out whereas our business partner Joseph McClendon III likes to say, “Embrace a little asstitude.”

Kay & Shi:

Shake that ass!

Kay:

Are you ready?

Kay & Shi:

Let’s quest!
